The final touch to the Steph Claire Smith X Billabong range is of course some custom SODA Shades. We’re so excited to announce that our collaboration with Billabong is now live online and in stores. Designed by our very own Steph, shot at 20 weeks pregnant by Josh it’s safe to say we had lots of fun.

What was your favourite part about designing the collection?

Firstly it was incredibly exciting to be able to work with such an iconic brand like Billabong and design something of my own. The team were so awesome to work with, and were really open to my ideas and took feedback on really well. Every piece in the collection ties back to a trend I love. I finally have the vintage style denim shorts of my dreams… a one piece that is both sexy and conservative, and then getting to design a pair of SODA shades to go with the collection was super exciting for us as a brand as well.

What is your favourite piece from the collection?

This is a super tough one. So I’m going to say a few ahahah. I love the Gingham Bra Bikini top paired with the Hike Bikini bottoms. The top is super supportive and flattering, and the bottoms are cheeky – just the way I like them. The Gingham print is just beautiful too, and looks so great with the denim shorts or the Beach Blouse.

What does ‘born to be real not perfect’ mean to you?

Well in reality, no body is perfect. We are all imperfectly perfect, or perfectly imperfect, and I think we should embrace our uniqueness a little bit more. There is enough out there on social media or in the media in general that make us question who we are or what we look like… this perfect image is impossible for anyone to ever achieve, so if we strive for perfection we will never truly be happy in our own skin or content in life.

What are some things you do everyday to make yourself feel good?

Listening to my body and moving it in some way, shape or form is super important for both my mental and physical health. We’ve got so many options on the KIC app because we know everyday our motivation and our body can feel different… and I know that I don’t always feel up to an intense workout. Sometimes if I’m having a shitty day, an intense workout can be the worst thing for my mind! So I’ll opt for a yoga flow or a long walk instead. I also try and make time each week, and even everyday, for things that bring me pure joy. They’re things like catching up with friends/family, a walk, a hot bath, watching a movie or tv series and cuddling Josh and Ari.

If you could give advice to your younger self what would it be?

Do your best to block out the noise. Forget about what people think of you, and you do you! You can’t please everyone.
